The Most Serene Republic, Live in Berlin, Magnet Club, April 14th 2006 [bootleg]

That night, The Most Serene Republic were opening for Stars. It was 9 PM when I arrived and the venue was already near-capacity.

I could not make it to the stage as usual and realised that I had the unusual experience of being on the young side of the average age of the crowd. I liked that and I liked the show as well.

TMRS played for about 45 minutes. Singer Adrian Jewett pleased the crowd by saying "Ick bin Dein, Berlin! Ick bin Dein!" ("I am yours, Berlin! I'm yours!") and telling them that they were "the greatest crowd we've had in europe ever". If I would get a dollar everytime I hear this from a North American band, I'd be rich by now. Maybe it wasn't a lie that night (overcrowded venue, screaming audience, etc.) but it definitely was when Ben Gibbard said the exact same thing on an, at the most, average concert evening in Dresden, February 2006.

Anyways, this is the setlist (please help me out with the songs I couldn't name):

In Places, Empty Spaces
(Oh) God
You're Not An Astronaut
Phages
???
???
Proposition 61
???

Download all the songs here via Rapidshare. Quality is at least average (MD recorder, Karaoke Mic).

This is a non-commercial audience recording. Don't sue me. Go, buy there albums here or anywhere you like.

Art Brut, Live in Neustrelitz (GER), Immergut Festival, May 26th 2006 [bootleg]

Two weeks ago, Art Brut played the Immergut, a small independent festival north of Berlin. The crowd got what they paid for. An energetic rock show with semi-spontaneous jokes and fifty minutes of mosh pit action. Either you loved it or you got bored soon.

Don't ever believe Eddie Argos! That night (May 26th 2006) in Neustrelitz he claimed his new song Nag Nag Nag Nag to be five days old. On May 22nd (Soundfix, Brooklyn, NYC), it was already seven days old (read and listen at ryspace and on May 17th (Knitting Factory, NYC) he told his audience, "this is the fifth time we've ever played it" (read here). We'll never know the truth...

My personal highlight of the gig was when Eddie enumerated all the bands playing the Immergut festival during the song Good Weekend. He seemed to enjoy himself immensely when singing "Tomte, Top Of The Pops" twice (Tomte is one of germany's most recognized independent rock bands, but remains virtually unknown to the outside world).

Here's a recording of the show: download via rapidshare. The quality is unfortunately quite low (heavily distored). For a better live recording visit rbally.net (part one, part two).

They played the following songs:

Formed A Band
My Little Brother
These Animal Menswear
Nag Nag Nag Nag
Bang Bang Rock And Roll
Blame It On The Train
Moving To L.A.
Rusted Guns Of Milan
Modern Art
St. Pauli
Post Soothing Out
Emily Kane
Bad Weekend
Good Weekend (Tomte Top Of The Pops)
